Little Thomas is 100 days old. For those who might not know it is a tradition in China to celebrate a new baby when they reach 100 days old. I've been lucky enough to be part of a few 100 days celebration and they're always a lot of fun. Friends and Family come together to eat, talk, and celebrate the baby reaching their first big milestone. of course as with most babies, Thomas slept through a lot of his big day but while he was awake I was able to capture this cute little guy. As you can see Thomas was dressed in red for good luck but we had to take his hat off for a few photos to get a shot of his beautiful head of hair. I wish Thomas a long and healthy life, Lets hope that this 100 days is just the beginning of 100 years.
I don't think this little girl could be any sweeter. There is nothing I love more than a chunky newborn baby. okay, maybe one thing, and that's a chunky newborn baby that sleeps through her session. For this session I really wanted to keep things clean and modern. Nothing too fussy, just a focus on a beautiful new baby and her proud family. With a baby girl I love to include pops of color, in this case pink, without going crazy with it. a little bit of pale pink goes a long way. I am so lucky to be invited into a family's home during this special time right after the birth of their baby. I only take on up to 10 newborn sessions a week in order to make sure I can give each session the attention it deserves so if you're thinking of booking email me now before I fill up.
. Its always so special to get to go back and see one of my newborn clients when they become a big brother or big sister. Which is exactly what I got to do with this adorable session in the Westchase neighborhood of Tampa, FL. Little Charlotte was just the sweetest little girl and her big brother could not have been more proud to show off his baby sister. One of the best parts of having more than one child is seeing the relationship between your kiddos. They may fight but the sweet moments make up for it. These sweet moments only last so long and those of us with multiple children know how difficult it is to find the time to schedule things like newborn sessions when you are also juggling your child or toddler's schedule. But it is so worth it. Plus, I do all my newborn sessions in your home! no packing everyone up and driving to a studio, I bring the studio to you! So head over to My Contact page and send me an email. It's never too late to get yourself on the schedule because I only book 10 babies a month maximum.
Margot's lifestyle Family session and Newborn Photo Session all in one in Tampa, FL - Sneak Peek11/10/2021 Little Margot is here! I was so glad to get to see this little family and be a part of capturing these special memories. The other side of the coin is that Margot is not a fan of having her picture taken. She wasn't enjoying herself and she let me know about it. She was not happy that instead of being held by mom and dad I kept taking her and putting her on weird fabrics and shining a bright light at her. But lucky for her she's cute so I still got some adorable photos of her. I look forward to seeing this little girl grow and getting to know her personality. My kids can't wait to meet her.
Last weekend I photographed little Walker and his mom and dad. This little guy was so sweet, but he was not a fan of being photographed. At the beginning of the shoot he did pretty much what all my newborn clients do, decide he's wide awake and needs to eat. But this is completely normal. Luckily after that he gave me about an hour to shoot as fast as I could while he slept soundly. Then he woke up and gave me the beautiful open eye shots you see here. But once we got a few of those in HE WAS DONE! I love a baby who knows what he wants, and what Walker wanted was to be done with this photoshoot. He's lucky he's so cute.
Mallory and Dylan are having a baby! I know, that's pretty obvious here but I'm so happy for them. I've known Dylan and Mallory for something like 14 years and Dylan was actually the best man in my wedding. I've seen them through their entire relationship including this next step. I'm so honored to get to capture this very special time and I can't wait to meet their little girl next month. Besides, I couldn't ask for a more beautiful model to photograph. Seriously, Mallory told me right at the top of the shoot that she hates having her photo taken. You absolutely cannot tell in the results. She looks like she's done this whole photo shoot thing a million times. If you or someone you know is pregnant don't miss out on capturing this special time. Contact me today to book your session.
Running out of ideas for photo shoots for your baby or toddler? Why not try something a little different. Sure, your baby is cute enough to carry a shoot all on their own but you can't argue with these results. 1. Milk or Water Bath Perfect for babies in the 8 months to 1 year range and shows off those baby rolls better than just about anything. It can also really be customized to fit any color scheme or look. You can use sliced fruit, flowers, greenery, really just about anything you like. Most babies seem to enjoy it as well. 2. Glitter or Confetti So so fun! Boys and girls alike will love this one. I have a parent simply stand slightly to the side of the background and gently sprinkle the glitter or confetti. I've never shot a glitter or confetti shoot that didn't turn out absolutely adorable. Bonus points for this one is that older kids can join in too and look just as cute. 3. Holiday Christmas From babies to toddler to kids is there anything cuter than a Christmas photo. whether you prefer warm and homey or bright and airy photos all make adorable Christmas set ups. Bonus points, you can use them for Christmas cards or even make an ornament for your Christmas tree out of them. Halloween Personally I think more people should do halloween shoots. Whether you're going for a general Halloween or fall vibe like the babies on pumpkins above or a shoot themed around you baby or toddler's costume like the little witches or baker above, halloween shoots always bring back fond memories. I love looking back at the costumes my children have worn over the years. And my kids love seeing themselves in their costumes. 4. Flower Swing It really doesn't get more dreamy than a flower swing in the forest or a field. Perfect for little girls or anyone who wants to feel like a woodland fairy for awhile. I actually made this swing myself from a log holder I bought on amazon. All it takes is some patience and a whole lot of flowers and foliage. Plus a string rope to hold it up. 5. Tent There are so many great things about a tent photoshoot. First of all, the lighting. The tent itself filters and diffuses the light coming through it creating the perfect soft lighting. Second, babies think they're fun so they are a lot more likely to go inside the tent for me instead of wandering away from it. And third, They can be decorated in so many ways to fit any theme. 6. Cake Smash For a first birthday nothing beats a cake smash. What better way to top off your first year of life then with handfuls of cake and a face full of frosting. So cute!! Before you book your baby's cake smash, head over to my post about the things you need to know about Cake Smashes.
These are just a few quick ideas for photoshoot themes. There are so many more options to make shoots for babies, toddlers and kids even more special. I would love to make that happen for you. Just head over to my contact page and drop me a line. Ah yes, the cake smash. Cute, funny, messy. But here's what you might not know. 1. Your baby might straight up refuse that cake. Its more common than you might think. Cake is much sweeter than they're used to and feels weird on their hands. You wouldn't believe how many babies cry through their cake smash. So does that mean you have to let go of the cute image you have in your head? One that you've been waiting to create since your baby was born? NO! All it takes is a little patience and keeping the pressure off to convince baby to, at the very least, get messy. Like this little girl below. We did her cake smash near the end of her shoot. She was tired and grumpy and wasn't sure what to make of her cake. But with a little patience We convinced her to dig in just long enough to get some cute shots. 2. No Fondant!! I know a cake with fondant is beautiful but think about what you imagine when you picture your baby's face in their cake smash photos. I would guess you're imagining a face full of frosting. A fondant cake is just not going to give that to you. Besides, fondant is difficult for little baby hands to get through. 3. A cake smash session can be done inside or outside. Both options work great but there are a few things worth thinking about before you decide. First, the season. If your baby's birthday is in July, think long and hard before you decide on an outdoor shoot. We live in Florida and baby's are not usually at their happiest and most adventurous when they're hot and sweaty. Not to mention that frosting can melt in enough heat. I also tend to shoot outside photos during the golden hour (1 hour before sunset) which depending on your baby might be a sleepy grumpy time for them. The plus side of an outdoor shoot is that it gives your baby more room to roam (we won't have to keep putting them back on a backdrop) and also the cleanup is a breeze. An indoor shoot is climate controlled and at a time that works for your baby. But does include scrubbing frosting off your floor if baby escapes during the shoot. Cake smashes are absolutely adorable and I love shooting them. They are total controlled chaos and depend entirely on making baby as happy and comfortable as possible so that their natural curiosity kicks in. If your baby is turning one any time soon I would love to talk to you about booking a cake smash. Head on over to my CONTACT PAGE And let me know if you're ready. We're located in Odessa Florida and travel to the whole surrounding Tampa Bay Area.
When I arrived at little Jasper's house he was sleeping peacefully. However, that was all a trick. As I finished setting up he decided he needed to eat, pee, and poop twice. In all seriousness, once he was done with all the pooping he was a little angel. He slept peacefully for me even when the dog licked his face, which you can see below. He is such a sweet baby who in some ways reminds me of when my own sweet boy was little. I'm so glad I got to meet this family and document Jasper when he was just a little thing. Before they know it he'll be big.
I got to meet and spend time with baby Peyton, her parents, and her aunt last week. Peyton is such a sweet baby and so alert and strong, Now, alert and strong are great qualities but they do make newborn photos a bit of a challenge. Luckily Peyton is so cute that she made up for it. Then at the end of the session she made it clear that she was done and was not going to do it for one more second. I love a girl who speaks her mind. Its such a privilege to be able to capture these specials moments for families and I'm grateful every day that I get to do it. Not everyone gets to do something they love. If you or someone you know is expecting a baby head over to the Contact Page and send me an email. I would love to help you remember these days, they go by so fast.
